Today’s guest is Tanya Smith, a women’s boudoir portrait photographer since 2011. She shares her story about how she happened upon this interesting field of photography because she “fell in love with how a boudoir session can change the way a woman sees herself.”
She says she was married to the wrong guy for 17 years which left her facing divorce at age 44 and having to start over from scratch, as a single mom. She decided to get into photography but had no experience which led to self doubt - especially when her divorce lawyer told her that she would "never make money in photography" and that she “should get a real job.”
Instead of letting those words defeat her and derail her dreams, she let them fuel her, and now, at age 53, she’s got a very successful business and is happily remarried. Now with a great supportive guy, she says: the sky’s the limit!
Her best advice is: “No matter how hard things are, or how many people...
My latest guest is Thérèse Plummer, an actor and award-winning audiobook narrator, who lives and works in The Big Apple. She has recorded over 500 audio books for various publishers and won the 2020 Audie Award for her collaborative work on "The Only Plane In The Sky: An Oral History of 9/11" by Garrett M. Graff which garnered Audiobook of the Year!
Thérèse was a complete stranger to me when we logged onto Zoom for this interview as I had coordinated the interview through her publicist, but we instantly connected. She's the first actor I've interviewed and I so enjoyed hearing her backstory from being a rebel as a teenager to making the decision, at the last minute, to not go the traditional route of college, and instead followed an inner calling, moving to New Your City to become an actor.
We cover a lot of topics that I think you'll find relatable, but the main thing I came away with is that I believe Thérèse is an old soul, wise beyond...
In this episode I got to chat with Maggie Green, owner of the Green Apron Company and host of the podcast Cookbook Love, learn all about her lifelong passion for cooking and how it transformed into a cookbook writing and coaching career.
Maggie took her experience as a Culinary Dietitian and Cookbook Author to the next level when she decided to take the knowledge and lessons she'd learned along the way and help others create cookbooks - so she created the "Get Paid to Get Published" method and program.
I loved hearing Maggie's back story about how she ended up working for the grandson of Irma Rombauer, the author of "The Joy Of Cooking" and the inspiring story of Irma.
What I also found fascinating is what a wide variety of cookbook ideas there are and how publishers are always looking for good cookbooks so you don't have to spend your own money to self publish.
What Maggie has done is a perfect example of how you can turn the wisdom gained from a career into a profitable online...
This is the Part 2 of my fun conversation with Lisa and Sam Chiodo. In this segment, we talk all about Italy and I was excited to share some of my memories of a 2012 trip to Tuscany with my husband, 2 globe-trotting friends, and my recently engaged daughter and her fiance. I must say, this was a fantastic trip down the memory lane!
If you missed Part 1, check it out here.
In this second segment, it was interesting to learn more about how the couple uprooted their family and immersed themselves in a very different environment where there were massive cultural and language differences.
It gives us the sense that, although we come from different places and speak different languages, we are all so similar and connected. And it also made me realize that when we hear of stories like Lisa's and Sam's, it inspires us to explore different people and cultures more. I'm not sure about you, but I'm ready for another Italian adventure!!!
If you'd like to check out the paid workshop we talked...
What a fun episode!!! I got to chat with Lisa Chiodo and although totally unplanned and unexpected, her husband popped in and joined our conversation. That's what happens when you see people having fun - you want to join in!!!
Although Lisa had visited Italy in her younger years before marriage and had even had a little internal nudging that she wanted to live there, it wasn't until she and her husband were at a seminar, and the speaker asked the audience what they really wanted to do with their life, that the idea took shape.
When that question came, they both leaned forward at the same time looking at each other and said "ITALY!" Then they went home, had the Australian equivalent of what we call a garage sale in the U.S. and sold all of their belongings, packed their clothes and their 2 young children, ages 1 and 3, and moved to Italy - for the first time.
At age 41, Lisa, along with her husband Sam and their children, uprooted their life and moved to a brand new country, without a...
My latest guest, Debra Johnstone, shares two major midlife transformations on today's episode that I'm sure will inspire you.
Debra was 49 when a calling that she could no longer deny, led her to making a major career change. This calling was a nudge she had had earlier in her life but which she suppressed for all of the same reasons many of us ignore whispers we get from the universe: it's SCARY and we don't know where to begin!
But as she neared her 50th birthday, the whisper became too loud to ignore! So she took the first step to begin her research about coaching. And surprise!!! An old email that she had saved had everything she needed to take her next step.
As a result of that first step, Debra has creating a successful coaching business called "Transformational Pathways Australia" and created her signature program "Mindset 4 Business Success" along with her signature product called "Your Success Planner."
She speaks on stage and has been providing transformational...
In this episode, I get to catch up with a friend so it's a bit different than most of my interviews. We cover a lot of topics, some sad and some happy. But that's life, right?! We never know when a phone call will change everything, and that's what happened to my guest Amber Lawrence, in late 2019.
You'll learn a lot about Amber, who opens up about dropping everything to make sure her mom was taken care of in her last days, while also running her online business as an Essential Oils Expert.
Amber is proof that you CAN make massive adjustments quickly to adapt to the curve balls life throws at you. And you'll hear how she's currently living a minimalist lifestyle, traveling around the US in her RV with her husband and 2 Dachshunds! How cool is that?!
I met Amber back in my Beachbody Coaching days and she lit up my online "challenge" group with so much energy and spunkiness. I loved her from the get-go!!!
And as I got to know her better, I learned she had a deep love of essential...

My guest today is "The Queen of Damn Near Everything!" Yep, that is what she calls herself and she really lives up to her name. Patti Phillips is an international best selling author, stand up comedienne, a blogger, realtor, entrepreneur, artist, traveler, a mom and all around amazing person. And that's just the tip of tiara! (She is literally wearing a tiara during our interview!)
Patti really stood out to me when I came across her Instagram feed so I reached out to her to see if she'd like to be a guest on my show. And she turned out to be a perfect fit as I learned more about her and her mission of helping midlife women to live a royal life.
I love Patti's open and honest attitude as she shares her life lessons as well as her varied interests, including how she got into gigging as a stand up comedienne. She even talks about what she learned from her failed marriages and how she met her new love who appears to be a perfect fit.t.
If you are looking for some midlife inspiration,...
This episode is by far my most favorite because I get to spend almost an hour chit-chatting with one of my most favorite people, my oldest daughter, Nikki, Johnson, who is now old enough to qualify as a midlifer!!! Shocking I know!
We talk about her entrepreneurial journey and how it has transformed in the past couple of years from running a multi 6 figure network marketing business to starting her own company.
She's a Certified Crystal Healer, a Reiki Level II Practitioner, a Spiritual Coach, and the founder of the High Vibe School.
Nikki's passion is evident as she talks about living authentically and helping other women, especially stressed moms to find joy in their lives by raising their vibrations and building self-confidence
She talks about her initial skepticism about the "woo" and how she began researching the science behind it which led her to a deep interest in crystals and a then desire to get certified. She draws on her extensive knowledge to teach others about them as...
